Hot-foot it to Soho for some of the city’s coolest new restaurant and bar openings

As if we didn’t already have enough to chose from, there are eateries popping up all over the place in central London. These new restaurant openings in Soho are set to be destination favourites for hungry city slickers. Get to it before the queues start to form.

Honi Poké

Honi Poké serves up customisable bowls of Hawaii’s hottest new food trend. It sits on Soho’s bustling Dean Street and offers eat in or take out bowls on-the-go. Dishes are light, healthy and full of protein and flavour. Choose from one of their four signature bowls, which each feature fresh, high-grade tuna, salmon, octopus or organic tofu. Alternatively, build your own colourful bowl with ingredients such as salty mango, nori seaweed, and crispy onion. The Ivy Soho Brasserie

The Ivy Soho Brasserie is the latest from the citywide foodie favourite. It maintains the Ivy’s upscale aesthetic and contemporary food offering. This opening comes hot on the heels of the Ivy Chelsea Garden’s private room and their new café at St. John’s Wood. If it’s anything like their sister sites, The Ivy Soho Brasserie is set to be a destination restaurant for hungry Londoners. The Bun House

Soho’s Greek Street is already a hotbed of gastronomic delights, so why not add another to the list? The Bun House will be providing traditional, Canton-style bao with Chinese pickles. Each dish is made in-house and can be adorned with sides such as their prickly cucumber-style salad. They’ll also be serving their homemade ‘House Fries’. Before you dive in, it should be noted that these aren’t your standard potato affair. Hot Pot

Dining at Hot Pot is a bespoke affair. It’s about ordering your favourite broth and adding all manner of fresh ingredients to cook in front of you. The fun part though, is that the emphasis comes on group dining. Grab your gang and get cooking at one of their booths or large tables. Broth varieties include a spicy broth made with dried chilli and Sichuan peppercorns, as well as a mushroom soup. Next, add your hardware. Chose from rib-eye, wagyu, marinated chicken or pork belly. There’s also sea bass, king prawns, shrimp wontons and Scottish lobster. Tamarind Kitchen

Michelin-star Tamarind is West London’s answer to exceptional Indian cuisine. So it should delight the masses to hear that it’s about to open a sister branch in Soho. It will live on Wardour Street and will be an altogether more casual affair than its palatial counterpart. Flavourful Indian-style dishes on offer will include Makai Kachumber – a corn and vegetable salad with a chat masala dressing. Additionally, try the Hydrabadi Gosht – a slow-cooked lamb with Kashmiri chilli in an onion sauce. Those in a bigger group should opt for the game platter. It’s a smorgasbord of tandoor-cooked quail, duck and guinea fowl on a bed of vermicelli. There’ll also be plenty of dips, breads and other sides to go with your meal, and a cocktail bar too. Kricket Soho

Kricket was first founded in a tiny 20-seat shipping container in Brixton and launched to tremendous success. Now it has another permanent fixture smack bang in Soho. Combining British ingredients with authentic Indian flavours, their menus are seasonal and modern.
