Say ‘aloha’ to Poké, the healthy Hawaiian bowl-based dish that everyone’s eating

A dish favoured by the locals of the Hawaiian islands, Poké (pronounced poh-keh) is popping up everywhere. Traditionally consisting of marinated chopped ahi tuna on a bed of seasoned short-grained rice, this satisfying-yet-healthy dish is a hit with foodies. Here’s where you can sample some this weekend…
Bringing the totally tropical to London, Eat’s bowls are full of high-grade raw fish, vibrant sauces, punchy pickles and crunch. They look stunning (as does their branding and taste just as good. Our favourite? The tropical version in tropical coconut sauce, with forbidden rice, avocado and macadamia nuts.
Tombo Poké & Matcha
After being inspired by trips to NYC & Tokyo and the success of their sushi bowls in South Ken, Tombo have opened Soho’s first Poké bar. Described by them as a ‘fuss free way of eating sushi’, their customisable bowls are perfectly complemented by matcha green teas.
This spot in Fitzrovia replicates a simple Hawaiian beach shack, combined with the laid back cool of LA – no surprise then that its been created by the people behind the trendy North Audley Cantine. For your bowl, choose a base (quinoa, sushi rice or red kale), protein (ahi tuna, sea bream, salmon or marinated mushrooms), sauce and toppings. For extra indulgence finish your meal with soft serve ice cream.
