A Crown in Marble Arch
To celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III, Marble Arch London BID has installed a giant 16ft bespoke replica of the St Edward’s Crown that forms a key element in the ceremony on Saturday 6 May.
The replica crown – weighing 300kg and incorporating 36 different coloured glass stones – is on display at Marble Arch until Thursday 11 May. Visitors can take photos with the crown and scan the QR code around the installation to learn more about Marble Arch’s royal connections.
The bespoke crown is located at Marble Arch, near Speakers’ Corner, a short stroll from the Hyde Park screening sites where the ceremony and procession will be shown on four large screens on Saturday 6 May.
Since John Nash’s original designs for Marble Arch were conceived in 1826, the monument has had a strong association with Coronations and the processions of new monarchs to and from Westminster Abbey over nearly 200 years. Despite being moved from its original location at Buckingham Palace to its current home in the early 1850s, Marble Arch has played a key role in the Coronation processions of the current King’s grandfather, King George VI in 1937 and his mother, Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
The Ivy West Street
Long-standing London institution The Ivy West Street has designed every detail to make you feel like royalty. Expect elegant décor, attentive staff and new delicious bespoke menu additions fit for a King. The Ivy has been serving up British classics since it first opened its doors in 1917. The restaurant has royal connections too, with the late Queen Elizabeth II having dined at the restaurant in 2017.
To celebrate the Coronation, The Ivy West Street has put an exciting installation onto the facade of the historic restaurant. This floral installation depicts an array of royal motifs including beautiful crowns and a giant regal lion’s head overhanging the iconic entranceway.
The kitchen team has prepared a limited-edition dessert to mark the occasion too. The King’s Lemon Posset (£10.95) is made with strawberry jelly, lemon sorbet, shortbread, and adorned with flowers. It’s the perfect end to a regal meal. This special dish will be on the menu until 14 May. Expert mixologists at have also created a limited-edition cocktail menu in collaboration with Beefeater Gin and Nyetimber to celebrate the occasion.
Beefeater cocktails will include The King’s Martini (£30), served with Beefeater’s Crown Jewel, boasts flavours of refreshing grapefruit, and encapsulates the iconic jewels housed in the Tower of London.
Bluebird Chelsea
Bluebird Chelsea, the renowned Chelsea haunt on the King’s Road, is partnering with iconic British brand Nyetimber to create an exclusive Coronation brunch experience, complete with limited-edition Tatiana Alida commemorative mugs.
Served from 6 – 8 May, the Coronation Brunch toasts King Charles III with a glass of Nyetimber Classic Cuvee and a coffee served in mugs exclusively designed to celebrate the occasion. As an extra touch, guests will be gifted an exclusively designed Tatiana Alida designer mug, a limited-edition collector’s item, from their brunch to take home as a keepsake. Nyetimber will also take over the quintessential British terrace at Bluebird over the weekend for guests to revel with the delectable serve and toast to this momentous occasion.
Sabine Rooftop Bar
From 6 to 8 May, Sabine Rooftop Bar is hosting a Royal Tea Terrace in partnership with Hendricks Gin. Against a backdrop of the iconic St Paul’s Cathedral and adorned with swathes of Union Jack bunting, Sabine’s garden sanctuary will look perfectly patriotic serving two specially curated cocktails from decorative and dainty China tea sets. What could be more fitting?!
Two new cocktail additions to the royal weekend menu are Afternoon Gin, (Hendrick’s Flora Adora, fruity lychee liqueur, delicious homemade rose syrup, zesty lemon Juice and Bob’s Lavender Bitters) and Royal Sip (Hendrick’s Neptunia, Cucumber St Germain, tangy lime juice, apple juice and Fever-Tree cucumber tonic).
With indoor and heated outdoor seating areas, Sabine’s oasis allows guests to enjoy spectacular views of the capital’s skyline and the perfect day out to celebrate the joyous occasion. Picture the scene and a round of ice-cold drinks as well a sumptuous selection of small plates inspired by cuisine from across the globe.
