Negroni Week is happening 14th-20th September 2020. Invented by Count Camillo Negroni in Florence, 1919, the cocktail may have been around for over a century but it wasn’t until a few years ago that the negroni became the go-to order in London bars. Combining gin, red vermouth, Campari and an orange garnish, it’s a pretty boozy tipple that makes the perfect Italian aperitif. Here’s what’s going on for World Negroni Week 2020.

The Coral Room

Seven Hills Italian dry gin and Primo Aperitivo Negroni are teaming up with The Coral Room to create a limited edition menu of three negronis in the colours of the Italian flag. Available only during Negroni Week, the red, white and green cocktails will pay homage to the birthplace of the negroni with ingredients such as Crème de Menthe to create the drinks’ bold colours.

At Home

The Wellesley

At The Wellesley, you can head to the Cigar Lounge and pair your classic negroni with a specially-chosen cigar selected from Europe’s largest hotel humidor. The Wellesley’s resident cigar experts have paired the negroni with a medium strength cigar, such as Romeo y Julieta’s “Wide Churchill”.

Paradise

Paradise may be known for bringing a taste of Sri Lanka to Soho, but for Negroni Week they are adding a splash of Italy too. Paradise will be serving a twist on the cocktail called the Coconut Washed Negroni, combining Colombo 7 gin, Campari, Martini Rosso and coconut oil. The coconut adds a hint of sweetness to balance the usually bitter tipple.

Daphne’s

Most people head Daphne’s in Chelsea for its traditional countryside Italian cooking. However, negroni lovers may want to venture over to try the Half Century Negroni. Aged in a barrel since 2014 Beefeater, Campari, Cynar and Aged Vermouth Blend make up this delicious cocktail.

Il Pampero

If you are a negroni connoisseur, try Belgravia restaurant Il Pampero’s signature cocktail, the Bull Dog. It combines tart hibiscus-infused gin with Antica Formula and Campari. After your aperitivo, indulge in Il Pampero’s homemade pasta dishes for less as the restaurant has extended their Eat Out To Help Out offer until the end of September.

Yotel

Newly-launched hotel Yotel is home to laid back restaurant and bar Komyuniti, serving bar bites and street-style food. Three new negronis have been added to the menu in time for Negroni Week, the Classic Negroni, Tropical Negroni and Strawberry Negroni, putting a fruity twist on the cocktail that is available to order from Monday 14 September. The affordable Clerkenwell hotel also hosts a daily Aperitivo Hour from 5-7pm where all aperitif cocktails are priced at £6.
