Tacos are taking over the capital, with more and more amazing places offering the traditional Mexican dish to hungry gastronomes. Here are six places to get your fix.
Breddos Tacos
After four years at the forefront of the street food scene, the team behind Breddos Tacos opened their first permanent site in Clerkenwell. They now have two sites that are inspired by roadside taquerias and extensive travels throughout Mexico and America. Here there are six vibrant salsas to try alongside a tantalising selection of tacos and small plates.
El Pastór
Opened by the Hart brothers (of Barrafina and Quo Vadis fame), El Pastór boasts its own tortilla factory, producing freshly baked corn tortillas, made from scratch, twice daily. Take your pick from meat, fish and veggie options – best combined with punchy salsa and mezcal-heavy cocktails.
Corazón
Mexico meets Texas at Corazón in Soho. Ideal for a post-shopping stop-off, the weekend brunch includes mouth-watering dishes like breakfast tacos stuffed with bacon, egg and cheese. Plus, it comes from native Texan Laura Sheffield – previously of Fischer’s and The Riding House Cafe – so you know it’s gonna be good.
DF Mexico
Once you sample DF/Mexico’s battered cod taco with red slaw and chipotle mayo you’ll be hooked. Best enjoyed with a bottomless Agua Fresca or Frozen Margarita, this fun and affordable Mexican restaurant is ideal for groups.
