It’s one of those colour trends that we can’t quite pin down. Is it bronze? Copper? Rust? Crust? All we know is that this molten hue is all kinds of chic – its earthy tones bringing a flattering autumnal warmth to all complexions.Spotted on the runways of Altuzrra, Sonia Rykiel, Prada and Giambattista Valli, this look has more than a little bit of ’70s nostalgia to it. The colour took on various forms when worn by the plethora of stylish show-goers this fashion week.

The most popular iterations were delicate slip dresses and draped dressing gown-coats, rendered in silken fabrics. We also spotted rust-coloured coats in fuzzy fabrics.Due to the fluidity of this colour trend, it’s up to you what end of the spectrum you go for. From tarnished gold and polished bronze, to burnt orange and warm praline, you can adapt the look to your style. Just think of it as a Nashville filter for your wardrobe.

This hue is ideal if you’re experimenting with tonal dressing. The muted tone lends itself to layering – try a metallic slip over a caramel-coloured polo neck.
