Chokers, slip dresses, platforms and lip liner; the 90’s are well and truly back. But it’s not just the era’s fashion that is having a moment. The quirky people at Styx bar, theatre and arts space are reviving three of the decade’s most experimental pieces of theatre; Sarah Kane’s Blasted, Anthony Neilson’s Normal and Caryl Churchill’s The Striker. Whether you remember the significance of these disruptive works during their first stints on the scene or you want to discover them for the first time, each is expertly brought back into the limelight with a whole festival of events and talks. This 90s season extravaganza will take place from 28 February to 9 April to celebrate the birth of In Yer Face theatre and explore the impact these three incendiary plays have had in shaping the creative landscape. As if that wasn’t enough, 90’s bands and DJs will play every Friday and Saturday as well as after parties with tributes to the decade-favourite performance artists such as Figs in Wigs, a Bjork inspired Drag extravaganza and a Take That tribute. There will be ’90s techno from Vector Space, ITCH FM are doing a tribute to ’90s hip-hip and Super Tennants will perform folk covers of the era’s classics.

28 Feb  – 9 April Performance times vary; see what’s on here.
