Upgrade your knitwear with this season’s simple yet chic fashion trend: flared sleeve jumpers

Words Joy Montgomery

It’s the AW16 tend that’s been dipping into our morning cereals, catching on doors and antagonising cats since the summer – but boy do we love it. Flared, trumpet, bell or fluted – whatever you call them, wide-sleeved is the only way to wear your knit this season.

Spotted on the catwalks of Burberry, Derek Lam and Marc Jacobs, the bell sleeve has attached itself to everything from crisp shirts to mini dresses, offering a simple way to upgrade your wardrobe basics. The bell sleeved knit, however, is our staple as the cold bite returns; we love layering ours under a crisp blazer with a bit of cuff adorning the sleeve opening, à la Mr Darcy, or layering a skinny polo under a shit dress for ’60s-inspired style.
