Absolutely London heads to the hair salon, Clo & Flo in South Kensington and is more than impressed with the experience

Founded in 1969, Clo&Flo boasts an impressive history of hairdressing. Following his love for the practice, founder Francois Michel Bellas travelled to London from Corsica to create his own salon, Belissima in the luxury district of South Kensington. His passion for hairdressing was inherited by his daughters, who run the salon as it stands today. I’m here to experience a highly sought-after blow dry from the notable brand.

I’m greeted by Chloe (Clo), the store’s General Manager and taken to the chair by Florence (Flo), qualified hair guru and the salon’s Creative Stylist. After carefully evaluating the state of my hair, including the length, condition and current haircut, Flo suggests a long-layered cut that will flatter my face, remove the dead ends and improve the overall condition and look. Being an avid box-dye user and addicted to my straighteners, my hair is pretty damaged and lifeless, to say the least.

I’m then taken to the washing station where Flo proceeds to gently wash my hair with luxury products including Wella Brilliance Shampoofor fine hair to keep my hair lightweight and an intensive Wella Deep Conditioner to address the dry, damaged state of my hair and breathe some life into it. During this relaxing wash, Flo asks about my hair care habits and gives me recommendations on treatments I can use to improve the state of my hair. She’s knowledgeable and provides tips and advice on how to protect it against damage, particularly when straightening, and shares her favourite heat protectant products.

At the cutting station, I am offered a selection of refreshments, before Flo gets to work with a brush. Next she carefully massages Moroccan Oil Treatment(£33)into the ends to prepare and protect against the heat of the dryer. Flo takes her time; every snip is careful and precise, leaving no millimetre out of place. My hair instantly feels lighter and healthier.

Finally Flo proceeds to blow dry my hair as per my preference of a natural wave. Again she takes her time and ensures each strand falls softly over my shoulders in the way she believes will suit me best. Once my hair is dry, she takes a final look at the cut and gives it some final touches. My fringe is reshaped and a delicate spritz of L’Oreal Techni-Art Anti Frizz Hairspray (Sold at £10) is applied to hold the style in place. Flo specifically does not use a barrage of products, so my hair can breathe and move freely.

My hair has never looked so shiny and full of life, or felt so soft and lightweight. I haven’t seen my hair in such amazing condition in a long time. The perfect length has been trimmed and the carefully placed layers ensure the cut looks clean and sophisticated. Flo advises I would now not need to straighten my hair as much, as the cut allows my naturally wavy hair to sit beautifully on my shoulders. With huge smiles all around, I leave the salon feeling like I’d fit right in on the set of Made in Chelsea. Clo & Flo is definitely one to add to the little black book.
