Taken from the Greek word that means breath, Anasa is a retreat unlike any other and has been established by Dr Nestor who runs an eponymous and highly regarded clinic in Edinburgh.  Adhering to the six pillars of Lifestyle Medicine, the week-long retreat aims to press the reset button for your body and mind, ensuring that you will emerge healthier and happier.

Proven to be a highly effective way to establish and maintain healthy behaviours that improve your quality of life and longevity, Lifestyle Medicine is the use of a whole food, plant-predominant dietary lifestyle, regular physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connection as a primary therapeutic modality for treatment and reversal of chronic disease. Intertwining these essential and vital life strands is a highly effective way to establish and maintain healthy behaviours that improve your quality of life and longevity that will guide you long-term to a happy, healthy, and fulfilled life.

As part of your stay at Anasa, you will also benefit from group sessions with our Lifestyle Medicine doctor (Dr Laura Freeman) exploring the importance of nutrition to take your health to the next level, as well as an individual session with Dr Sam Robson to learn how to optimise your body composition. In addition, our life coaches will be running group and individual sessions to suggest positive strategies that will improve your focus and calm your mind.

With each retreat, the schedule of daily activities will vary, with some making you sweat and others allowing you to channel your inner calm and peace. But most of the time will be spent outdoors, allowing you to benefit from the fresh Scottish air. Activities may include:

·       Wild Swimming

·       Relax

Remember, Anasa is not a bootcamp, rather the exercise on offer if a celebration of what you can do! The expert trainers will support you with every step you take and guide you into a positive mindset, ensuring the release of those feel-good endorphins.   

The debut retreat is due to take place in August 2021 and will be located in Pitlochry, in Soarsa 1875 – a boutique hotel that is in harmony with its idyllic surroundings of natural woodlands and gardens. This unique hotel is dedicated to showcasing ethical luxury that has been designed for vegans, vegetarians, and the plant curious. More than a synthesis of tastes, the hotel offers the perfect antidote to the frantic pace of modern living.
