Contents

A Portuguese food and wine festival is coming to London for the very first time, courtesy of Bar Douro. If you can’t make it to Portugal this summer, don’t worry, you’ll be able to sample the country’s rich and varied wine and food scene without ever having to get on a plane. FESTA is the brainchild of Bar Douro’s founder Max Graham and acclaimed Portuguese wine critic, Sarah Ahmed. The festival will be coming to East London’s Tobacco Dock on the 24th and 25th of June and is a celebration of everything that Portugal has to offer.

TASTE THE FINEST WINES

Over 50 of the country’s most celebrated winemakers will be gathered together under one roof. The festival will be hosting some of the country’s most pioneering and cutting-edge winemakers including Titan of Douro, Quinta das Bágeiras, Hugo Mendes and Quinta das Marias.

Several established names from the UK wine scene will also be featured, such as Niepoort, Luis Pato, Soalheiro, Susana Esteban and Filipa Pato and William Wouters. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the makers themselves and sample from over 250 wines.

SAMPLE PORTUGAL’S FOOD SCENE

This unparalleled wine line-up is perfectly accompanied by FESTA’s food court, which brings together the best of London’s Portuguese food scene. Special menus and dishes from some of the city’s leading Portuguese restaurants and chefs will be featured.

You’ll be able to sample the small plates Bar Douro are best known for, taste something from Volta do Mar’s menu celebrating the diversity of Portuguese cuisine and its relationship with South America, Africa and Asia and try one of the street food pop-ups Roulote’s famous Portuguese Bifana pork sandwiches for yourself.

LISTEN TO LIVE MUSIC

All this eating and drinking will be accompanied by a soundtrack of live Portuguese music, including traditional Portuguese guitar and piano recitals. You’ll be taken on a journey through the different styles and genres of Portuguese music during, “Da saudade e outras nostalgias”, a special live performance by Lara Martins and João Menezes’ Trio.

VISIT THE MERCADO

Portuguese brands and institutions will be showcasing their wares at the festival’s market. You’ll be able to browse a variety of artisanal products, including pastéis de nata, olive oils, charcuteries and cheeses, all of which will be available for purchase. Plenty of beautiful examples of the country’s rich craft and design culture will also be on display.

Tickets for FESTA are priced at just £35 per person and include the opportunity to taste over 250 wines, as well as a branded Riedel glass to take home with you.
