KNIGHTSBRIDGE SMART: Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park
A Victorian landmark, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park offers a fabulous ballroom with 24-carat gilding. Additionally its Loggia and Carlyle rooms with adjoining Mandarin Terrace overlook Hyde Park. Making them perfect for summer weddings. Capacity: Up to 400.
ROYAL FLAVOUR: Kensington Palace
Still an official royal residence, Kensington Palace has a limited number of wedding slots per year and the surroundings are picture perfect. Celebrations take place in The Orangery, a Queen Anne glasshouse requiring very little dressing and with an adjoining south-facing terrace and lawns. For larger events, a marquee can be erected on the lawn. Capacity: Up to 300.
MODERN BOUTIQUE: Haymarket Hotel
The Nash-designed Haymarket Hotel is grand from the outside, but its Kit Kemp interiors have a boutique flavour. Quirky event spaces include the Shooting Gallery – once used to practice for the grouse season and now a private dining room. The swimming pool area offers great lighting, space for dinner or dancing and your own private bar – you can even host a wedding pool party. Capacity: 220.
RIVER VIEWS: The Savoy
With views of the Thames (it also has its own pier) and wedding planner Bruce Russell in residence, The Savoy offers classic London style and impeccable event management. Its event spaces include The Lancaster Ballroom – location of innumerable famous parties over the years – just perfect for live bands and dancing and with decadent Parisian-salon decor Capacity: Up to 400.
WEST END GRAND: The Langham
One of Europe’s original Grand Hotels and steeped in history, The Langham has a great location on Regent Street, eleven private dining rooms plus glamorous ballroom with doors opening onto a private 18th-century courtyard garden. The seasonal wedding menu is created in collaboration with Chez Roux. Capacity: Up to 375.
TUDOR SPLENDOUR: Fulham Palace
Former riverside home of the Bishops of London Fulham Palace was once a rustic retreat from London. The surviving Tudor manor and courtyards, with Georgian additions, has seven interior venue spaces and 13-acres of grounds, including ancient walled gardens with parterre. You can design your wedding using Palace, garden spaces or a combination of the two. Capacity: Up to 200.
CLUBLAND ROMANCE: The Lansdowne
Once one of Lord Byron’s watering holes, The Lansdowne Club’s history is undeniably romantic. Its Mayfair location – just of Berkeley Square – is as good as it gets, and you don’t have to join to marry here. Celebrations happen in the Adam-designed ballroom, while the enclosed courtyard is great for a summer drinks and photography.Capacity: 150.
CAPITAL GARDEN: Kew
The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and this lush oasis is the perfect spot for a romantic wedding in the green. Alfresco-style wedding spaces include the Orangery and Nash Conservatory. More intimate options include Cambridge Cottage, a lovely setting for a dinner or reception. Capacity: Up to 200.
SPORTING CHOICE: Roehampton Club
Exclusive Roehampton Club is set in 100 acres of parkland, with superb sporting facilities and immaculate lawns. Its light and modern clubhouse has event spaces that can host any number from 20 to 200, with bespoke menus and an experienced in-house events team. Capacity: Up to 200.
LONDON EXOTIC: Hotel du Vin
Hotel du Vin Wimbledon offers a slice of exotica in the heart of one of London’s most famous villages. The hotel is located in Cannizaro House, a grand 19th-century property with glorious views over one of south London’s favourite green spaces. While the setting is spectacular, the interiors are something else again, with extraordinary painted ceilings and glorious period features. As with other Hotel du Vin locations, the focus here is on bistro-inspired menus with relaxed but attentive service. There are a variety of set menus to choose from, or you can create a bespoke affair – be it canapés, an informal buffet or five-course wedding breakfast.
