We visit House of Wisdom, the new wellness space encouraging Londoners to take a deep breath…

By Abbie Schofield

I’m lying on the floor in a dark room with my eyes closed. A humming percussion sound fills the room and washes over my body, sending a tingling rush of calm from head to toe. I’m not in a weird dream — I’m just off Euston Road experiencing a gong bath.

Gong Bath at House of WisdomBrand new wellness centre House of Wisdom is a first-of-its-kind space helping Londoners to rebalance and reconnect through movement, sound, meditation and workshops. As well as gong baths, they offer different types of yoga and meditation plus daily empowerment talks and workshops led by changemakers and inspiring individuals. Whether it’s The Power of Overcoming Anxiety or How Goal Setting Can Help You Create a Powerful Future, the talks aim to bring people together in a trusting and intimate setting to listen, learn and overcome personal challenges. Rather than simply focusing on the physical, H.O.W.’s holistic approach is all about mind-body connection.

House Of Wisdom OutsideThe three founders, Luca Maggiora, Stephanie Reynolds and Cristina Garces, have a range of expertise including nutritional therapy, breathwork and life coaching, so you can trust you’re in good hands. Plus, the studio itself is an inner city oasis with ambient lighting, luscious plants and a healthy café to relax in after class.

H O WWhen the gong bath ends, I feel slightly disoriented as I’ve been in such a deeply relaxed state. “Stamp your feet on the ground when you stand up to help you feel grounded again,” advises Stephanie.

H.O.W. are committed to being an accessible space. They offer free sessions for those in difficult financial circumstances and there is also an introductory deal of £35.00 for five sessions.
