  1. No known cause… While the definitive “cause” of rosacea is not completely understood, there are many internal and external factors that can trigger and/or exacerbate the condition. Most activities that lead to increased circulation can trigger rosacea, but it can also be stimulated by emotionally stressful situations.
  2. Avoid the (red) wine…Many of the foods and drinks such as red wine, as well as spicy, sugary, and starchy food, which represent a high carbohydrate/ glycaemic diet, can lead to increased inflammation and dilation of blood vessels. Choose foods that include high-quality proteins (Fish) and healthy fats (nuts, olive oil), and opt for low glycaemic carbohydrates (whole grains).
  3. SPF is your BFF…Rosacea is one of many photosensitive dermatologic conditions so UV rays from the sun can lead to flare-ups. SPF is of utmost importance for people with rosacea, but make sure your chosen product has a physical blocker such as zinc and titanium dioxide rather than a chemical blocker, as they are less likely to exacerbate rosacea-prone skin.
  4. Tailor your skincare regime… Avoid harsh products of products that contain strong chemicals. Consider switching to products that use plant-based actives such as Synchrorose.
