This is everything you need to know about the Covent Garden Cool Down, an unmissable ice cream festival which kicks off this weekend…
Words Victoria Peake
Covent Garden is ending the summer on a sugar high with copious amounts of ice cream and frozen cocktails. The Covent Garden Cool Down is a five-day extravaganza, taking place between Thursday 22nd and Monday 26th August, 12pm – 8pm on the East Piazza. Expect to see the area’s big culinary hitters serving up a tantalising selection of soft serves in scoop, cone and tub forms.
The area’s heritage as a fruit and vegetable market will be celebrated through its collaboration with gelato shop, Morelli’s. This partnership will create a series of six bespoke ice cream flavours, all of which have a fruit and vegetable twist. They’ll also be selling new flavours and best-sellers such as Aperol Spritz, Praline, Chocolate Velvet and Banoffee Pie.
Elsewhere, Avobar will be offering a limited edition Avo Soft Serve, while Ladurée will add a French twist to the festival with their infamous cart offering Macaron Glacé – the ultimate macaroon ice cream sandwich.
Buns and Buns will be serving up an amazing selection of flavourful ice cream sticks and Petersham Nurseries will be serving a quintessentially British strawberry ice cream made from organic Haye Farm strawberries.
