Where to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in London
This Cinco de Mayo, Pop Brixton are hosting a Mexican-inspired fiesta with some of Mexico’s hottest DJs and bands to keep guests bopping through the night. Keep yourself fuelled with tasty tacos from Pop’s resident Mexican street-food vendor, Maria Sabina, who will also be popping up with a tequila bar for the occasion.
Cointreau has teamed up with London’s iconic bar, Cahoots, just in time for Cinco de Mayo to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the original margarita cocktail. Expect Cointreau-based concoctions all evening such as You’ll Never Smile Again, made with Tequila Enemigo Cristallino, Cointreau orange liqueur, lime, lemon and Cahoots herbal wine. They’re sure to give you a real kick!
Modern Mexican restaurant Cantina Laredo will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a bottomless brunch for a weekend of feasting and festivities. Enjoy a three-course brunch menu, including a specially created exploding piñata dessert and top it all off with an endless supply of drinks. If you’re lucky enough to be born on the 5 May – you dine for free!
Uncle Barts is hosting the ultimate Mexican fiesta. In honour of the iconic South American celebration, Barts is offering an evening of Mexi-mania with a piñata full of candy, maracas and plenty of sombreros. Sip on patron margaritas, snack on nachos and listen to Pedro Brandao and co. up until the early hours.
Head to London’s only dedicated mezcal tasting room, Sin Gusano, this Cinco de Mayo. This East London bar is only open for six-weeks making it the perfect opportunity to learn about the traditions that surround the drink. Expect mezcal tasting flights, a limited edition mezcal-based cocktail and tacos cooked up in the traditional Mexican style.
