Everyone’s favourite it-girl, Alexa Chung, has finally revealed her first eponymous fashion collection. Here’s what you need to know…
Words Joy Montgomery
Everyone’s favourite Brit it-girl has done it again. Following weeks of build up, Alexa Chung’s eponymous fashion label has officially been launched into the fashion sphere.
After working on countless sell-out collaborations – M&S, AG Jeans and Madewell to name a few – it has come as no surprise that Alexa Chung has turned her hand to her own brand. Speculation of what the ex-presenter would bring to the table was rife among the fashion elite. On Wednesday evening everything was finally revealed.
Held at the Danish Church of Saint Katharine, the brand’s first presentation was dotted with the fashionable and the fabulous. Lucky guests were escorted to the venue in branded Tuks-Tuks, offering plenty of Instagrammable moments. To bring a sense of ceremony (in every sense of the word) to the proceedings, Chung channelled a wedding theme. Attendees were seated in pews and the aisle acted as a runway then, as the show closed, confetti cannons were fired onto the parading models.
The collection itself is an homage to Chung’s history as a trend-setter. Fans will recognise her signature style, such as block-heeled Mary Janes and retro fabrics. Yet, far from being a nostalgia fest, the collection feels very 2017 with its high-low fusion of nomcore separates and high-end tailoring.
The sparkly ruffled maxi dress, coming in green and purply pink (the very one worn by the designer) will undoubtedly be a sellout. We also suspect the oriental-style mini dress will inspire countless copycat looks on the high street. We’re personally coveting the pink pin-striped suit. It encapsulates all the eccentricity and British charm that we love about Ms Alexa Chung. Bank cards at the ready.
