London’s unmissable Christmas carol concerts
ST. PAUL’S CATHEDRAL
St Paul’s Cathedral hosts its annual series of Christmas carol concerts during the festive period. Celebrity readers will join this annual celebration at A Celebration of Christmas on 14 December. You can also enjoy Christmas favourites with your family at the Family Carol Service on 16 December or, for something a little more classic, you can head over to the traditional Christmas Carol Service on 23 and 24 December. Due to immense popularity, pre-booking or early arrival is advised to secure a place.
ROYAL ALBERT HALL
Carols by Candlelight is a concert of seasonal classics, held at the Royal Albert Hall from 16 to 24 December. Presented on a stunning stage illuminated by candlelight, the show will feature performers dressed in 18th Century costume, inviting audiences to step back in time to the golden era of Christmas. In addition to readings from Dickens, special guest Kevin Whately is invited to read the Scriptures.
The Trafalgar Square Christmas tree is back, bringing spectacular festive spirit to central London. Come and watch carol singers perform festive favourites around this famous Norwegian Christmas tree from Monday 11 to Friday 22 December. There will be over 40 carol singing groups gathering under the tree to entertain visitors during this period. Performances will take place from 4-8pm on weekdays, and from 2-6pm at weekends.
HOLY TRINITY BROMPTON
Looking for carols with a difference? Holy Trinity Brompton’s Alternative Carol Service is the place to be this Christmas. Taking place on the 16 and 17 December this year, the carol service will feature local artists, festive music and a Christmas message. A very modern twist on a classic festive activity.
TOWER OF LONDON
On 19 December, British-based children’s charity Street Child invites you to join in with an annual Christmas carol concert at the Church of St Peter and Vincula. Supporting vulnerable children in West Africa, the Classic Christmas carols will let you join in with the Choir of the Chapel’s Royal. Expect mulled wine and mince pies alongside special guests.
