This Season’s Coolest Military Coats & How To Style Them

Contents

Stand to attention with this season’s coolest and most versatile coat trend

Words Joy Montgomery

Shine your shoes and polish your brass buttons because the military trend is set to storm the fashion world this season. With roots in traditional naval and army garb, military coats have slowly evolved over time, leaving regimental roots and securing their place in the fashion camp. Claimed by musical legends such as The Beatles and The Libertines, the military coat made its roots in rock n’ roll glamour, yet found itself catapulted into mass fashion stardom when worn by taste-maker Kate Moss in the mid noughties.

After making an appearance on the Burberry SS17 catwalk, you can guarantee that military coats will offer serious mileage in the wardrobe stakes, and with countless styles to choose from you’ll be spoilt for choice. For weekend casual opt for camouflage khaki paired with straight leg jeans and colour pop cashmere. Or for a unique night out ensemble throw on an epaulet-adorned officers jacket, perfect with metallics and black tulle.
