National White Wine Day – The Best Wine Bars In London

In case you didn’t know, today is National White Wine Day – not that we needed a special day to enjoy a glass of sauvignon, but it’s nice to have an excuse. To celebrate, Absolutely have listed our favourite wine bars across London for readers to enjoy.

1.Peckham Cellars

South East London’s favourite indie wine bar, restaurant and bottle shop was founded in late 2019 by long time friends Helen Hall, Luke West-Whylie and Ben McVeigh – resident sommelier and all round wine buff. The menu has an impressive range of options available, and the team pride themselves on working with small producers from emerging regions, as well as sustainable producers. The vibe is chilled and homely – the perfect venue for a catch up over a bottle of sauvignon. The bar also runs its very own Club Del Vino – a monthly wine subscription that delivers a carefully curated selection of wines to your door each month.

2.Vagabond Wines

A firm favourite across London, Vagabond is known for their vast selection and above all, their unique wine machines. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and are all to happy to guide guests through some of the best wines from around the globe. Menu highlights include the 2017 Nostalgia Alvarinho, the 2020 Basile Arteteca and the classic 2019 Vagabond Sauvignon Blanc. Those who are not big wine lovers can enjoy a range of craft beers alongside their recently launched cocktail menu.

3.Antidote

Situated just off Carnaby Street, Antidote is a relaxed offering spread across two floors, with a highly sophisticated menu made up of entirely organic wines. The top picks are from France; 2020 AC Touraine Trinqu’âmes, 2016 VDF Autochtone and the 2016 AC Cheverny Argilo. Interestingly, there is also a section reserved for ‘Skin Contact Wine’ on the menu – a white wine that is made like a red. ‘The process is to leave the skin of the grapes in contact with the juice during the fermentation for few days to even few months. The result is a white wine with an amber or orange colour – the result is wicked, funky and ready to please!’

4.Bar Crispin

The brand new natural wine bar and restaurant offering from the duo behind popular Spitalfields restaurant Crispin has recently opened on Kingly Street. The laid back, all day vibe at Bar Crispin makes it the perfect location for boozy lunch meetings and catch ups with friends over a bottle (or two). The 150-strong natural wine list has been expertly curated by in-house sommelier Alex Price, with an evident focus on small, indie producers. We urge guests to try the Entres Vignes Oniric Pet Nat  – an Absolutely London favourite.

5.FARE London

FARE –  the little sister location of Sager + Wilde, is the perfect venue for all-day dining, cocktails and of course, vino. The menu is vast, but not lacking in quality; the wine list is exclusive, and Fare is internationally recognised as one of the best places to drink wine in the world. Hungry punters can order hand-crafted pasta, sourdough pizza and a range of plates from the grill.
