London Cocktail Week is back and it’s bigger and better than ever; here’s what you need to know

Next week sees cocktail mania sweep the capital as London Cocktail Week returns with a bang. Taking place between October 1-7, the festival celebrates the city’s top bars, mixologists and cocktail offering. With everything from bespoke pop-ups, to Michelin-starred dinners and exclusive parties, there’s guaranteed to be something for every discernable drinker.

Hosted by DrinkUp.London, the guys behind London Beer Week and Wine Week, the annual festival features a roster of unmissable events around the city. With 300 bars, restaurants and pop-ups taking part in London Cocktail Week this year, there is more than enough to wet your whistle. We’ve rounded up a few of the week’s highlights to help you navigate this most-fun of festivals.

THE COCKTAIL VILLAGE

The Cocktail Village is back and it’s the biggest of its kind, now spread over three locations around Brick Lane. at the heart of London Cocktail Week. There’ll be over forty different cocktail experiences to discover across the three spaces and each bar will have at least one drink at festival price (£6) though they might have some super duper special options at a slightly higher price point… So that’s at least 40 different drinks to try at just £6. All for that same tenner… bargain.

Pisco Punch

Each year with London Cocktail Week comes the tussle to be crowned the city’s best mixologist with bars competing to create London’s best tipple. Cocktail lovers across the capital voted and the results are in. James Drummond from Resident of Paradise Row was named the winner with his Pisco Punch. A real crowd-pleaser, it’s a modern take on a classic recipe, including Pisco Waqar, Spiced Pineapple Oleo Saccharum, Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto, and Prosecco.

Tokyo Drift

A sweet yet tangy tipple, the Tokyo Drift served at Drake and Morgan sites across London features a delicate mix of Roku gin, plum sake, Yuzu and honey. Each botanical in Roku gin is steeped and distilled in a variety of pot stills to extract the best possible flavour, creating a multi-layered taste including cherry blossom and green tea for a floral and sweet aroma. What’s more, the cocktail comes beautifully garnished with real flowers, making it the perfect choice for an Instagram moment.

The Anna Pavlova

This year for London Cocktail Week, Swingers will be offering an exclusive, limited edition ‘Anna Pavlova’ cocktail at both their City and West End venues. Guests will be able to enjoy the Anna Pavlova for only £6 and sip on a refreshing combination of Zubrowka vodka, apple, lime, egg whites and elderflower.

New York Sour

A pre-prohibition classic, this showstopping cocktail was known as the Continental Sour and the Southern Whisky Sour before becoming the New York Sour. Made using Maker’s Mark bourbon, lemon juice, and sugar syrup, this tasty tipple is finished with a port float for an extra-special kick. Find this cocktail at various Drake and Morgan sites across the city this London Cocktail Week.

The Lone Oak

This cocktail from New York’s Dead Rabbit combines Irish whiskey and pistachio syrup for a truly nutty concoction. The Dead Rabbit will return to London for a second Bethnal Green residency at The Sun Tavern, bringing its famous Irish Coffee and other cocktails back to London. The Lone Oak is made with whiskey, Chartreuse, curry leaf, lemon and bitters.
