Home workout tips for improving your fitness routine

Working out at home has become more common recently for a number of reasons. The Covid-19 pandemic has forced gyms to temporarily close while some people struggle to afford gym memberships. Others simply prefer to maintain their health and fitness at home. After all, we don’t always need to go to the gym to get the very best results.

It can be easy to fall into bad habits and instead of working out, opt for a lazy evening in front of the television or playing games. Motivation isn’t always easy to find and running on the treadmill after a long day at work is often the last thing on our minds. However, coming up with a plan and establishing a routine can make it a tad easier. It is also vital to make sure you’re doing your home workouts correctly and following proper form in order to avoid injury. Here are some home workout tips to help your fitness routine deliver even better results.

Home Workout TipsCreate a dedicated workout space

There’s no use in having the best home workout routines lined up if you haven’t got a space in which to carry them out. Set up a mini gym in the corner of your home or allocate a space in your house where you can carry out any routines you have planned. It’s easier to workout if you have everything in one place and it enables you to full immerse yourself in a fitness mindset as soon as you walk into what will essentially be your own little gym.

Only buy key equipment

Buy equipment that will be useful for several different routines and exercises. If you buy equipment designed for just one type of exercise it will not only become boring over time but it won’t provide your body with the variety it needs. Buy versatile equipment that can be used in more than one way. For example, a lot of kettlebell exercises can be done with a heavy dumbbell and vice-versa. Resistance bands are also worthwhile as they’re versatile and don’t take up too much space.

Get rid of any distractions

Whether it’s a lively dog or a constantly vibrating phone, get them out of your sight. These distractions can lead to cutting a workout short or throwing it out of the window altogether because you’ve had a better offer of a chat and a cup of tea. Consider muting your phone while you workout and turning off any other electrical distractions.

Home Workout tipsTry online classes

Working out at home can become boring at times, and it’s totally normal to run out of ideas and inspiration for exercises you can do or new classes to try. With the online world currently dominating the fitness space, countless classes and videos are available online. Even the likes of Peloton has proved particularly popular at the moment as you’re assigned your very own coach as you push through your cycle workout.

Buy an air purifier

Working out at home can lead to a stuffy room and an overall lack of ventilation. To combat this, purchase an air purifier to give your fitness space better air quality and enable you to have a better workout. Alternatively, always try to workout near an open window or in your garden as that will give you a natural flow of air without needing to spend any money.
